LYHYT — Free Short URL

FAQ

LYHYT is a simple service that turns long web links into short ones. Short links are easier to share on social media, messages, or emails.

Paste your long URL into the field and click Shorten! to instantly create a short, easy-to-share link. Your shortened URL will redirect to the original address and can be used anywhere.

Yes. After creating a short link, a QR code is automatically generated for the created short URL. You can download the QR code as a PNG image and use it for sharing, printing, posters, business cards, or mobile devices.

Short links stay active for 21 days. After that, they expire automatically.

No account is needed. You can use LYHYT instantly without signing up.

Yes, each IP can create a limited number of shorturls. The current limit is 30 shorturls per month.

LYHYT will not allow links that:

  • Point to your local network or private IPs (like 192.168.x.x).
  • Use other link shorteners (bit.ly, tinyurl.com, etc.).
  • Contain harmful, illegal, or unsafe content (malware, scams, adult content).

Links may be blocked automatically if:

  • They are submitted too quickly or in large numbers (to prevent spam).
  • They point to disallowed or unsafe websites.
  • Your IP is blocked due to suspicious activity.

If you see a dangerous or abusive link, use the Contact form to report it. This helps keep the service safe.

We only log your IP when you create links. This is to keep the service running and prevent abuse.
