What is LYHYT?

LYHYT is a simple URL shortening service for turning long web addresses into shorter links that are easier to share. You do not need an account.

How long do short URLs work?

Every LYHYT short URL is available for 14 days after it is created. After that, it expires and is removed by the scheduled cleanup process.

How many URLs can I create?

You can create up to 2 short URLs within any 5-minute period per session and up to 10 URLs per IP address during one GMT day. The daily period runs from 00:00:00 through 23:59:59 GMT.

What kinds of URLs are accepted?

LYHYT accepts normal HTTP and HTTPS web addresses. A destination can be rejected if its exact URL or domain has been blocked by the administrator or if it matches an anti-abuse rule.

Why can a destination warning appear?

The administrator can add a warning to a specific short URL, domain, or top-level domain. The warning explains the administrator-applied reason and lets the visitor decide whether to continue to the destination.

Why was my IP address blocked?

The administrator can block individual IP addresses or IP ranges when needed to control abuse, automated traffic, or repeated violations. A block may prevent new short URLs from being created.

Can I choose my own short code?

No. Short codes are generated automatically by LYHYT so creating a link stays quick and naming conflicts are avoided.

Can I edit the destination after creating a link?

No. Public users cannot change an existing destination. If a link is wrong, create a new one. The administrator can disable or remove links when necessary.

How do I report an abusive or suspicious link?

Open the Contact page, choose Report a URL, paste the full LYHYT short URL, choose a reason, and explain what you found.

What information is stored when I create a URL?

LYHYT stores the destination URL, generated short code, creation and expiry times, creator IP address, a hashed session identifier, and basic counters needed to operate the service. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Does a short URL stay online forever?

No. LYHYT is intentionally temporary. Links normally expire after 14 days and may also be disabled or removed for security, abuse prevention, legal reasons, or maintenance.
