Privacy and data handling

LYHYT processes only information needed to operate the service, prevent abuse, and provide one-time links.

Data stored

For each link, LYHYT stores the destination URL and domain, creation time, expiry time, and creator IP address. When a link is used, the use time and the IP address of the opening connection are stored.

How the data is used

The data is used to deliver one-time links, protect the service, limit abuse, and provide administrative statistics. Google Analytics can be enabled by the administrator, but it is disabled by default.

Cookies

The service uses necessary session and language preference cookies. If Google Analytics is enabled and consent is required, Analytics loads only after acceptance and the choice is stored in a cookie.

Retention

Links expire after the lifetime configured for the service. The administrator can also delete old link records with the admin cleanup tools. Aggregate statistics may be retained separately from individual links.
